There are a lot of things a student can do in Brighton. There is always some activity being planned in this city, where you can go and meet new people and make new friends.
Brighton is considered as England’s liveliest and loveliest town by the sea. The city is fun, cosmopolitan and uniquely eccentric throughout the entire year.
Pleasure pier, Regency architecture, specialist shops, cafés, a lively art scene and exciting nightlife are all within walking distance. Students really enjoy these places, so don’t hesitate to explore and enjoy.
As the Sussex Downs, as well as the traditional English country are near, Brighton is a great base for exploring the region.
SHOPPING
Besides the beach there are a lot of students who like to go shopping in Brighton. It’s not so big so you’d spend all your time walking between shops, but big enough to have all the usual high street names and filled funky independent little shops around every corner.
Churchill Square
Now this is the kind of mall most students like. This mall consists of three levels and is really close to the beach. The mall is filled with a diverse range of shops from Habitat, H&M up to Next and Miss Selfridge until there is HMV, WHSmith and Virgin. It’s opened> Mon-Sat 9am-7pm (Thu late night shopping, open till 8 in the evening, Sun 11am-5pm
Hove
Hove is quite a fancy neighborhood to go shopping. The perfect place if you look for designer clothing boutiques.
Kemptown
Is quite the contrary of the Hove neighborhood; but it does have a character of its own and is the perfect place to pick up second hand bargains or something a bit ‘arty’.
Kings Road Arches
This place if filled with Artist’s studios, homemade jewellery, hair braiding, henna tattoos. Nice to visit indeed.
North Laines
This neighbourhood offers one-off designer clothes at prices you will not regret paying. Here students will find independent shops selling everything from secondhand designer goods to stainless steel sex aids.
The Lanes
You shouldn’t miss out on Dukes Lane. It has got everything, with hairdressers and cafes beside trendy jewellers.
PARKS
The Royal Pavilion, designed by John Nash in 1815, has been created in the same style as the Moghul palaces of India. Humphry Repton's designs for the Pavilion at Brighton (1808) is where the idea came from. The gardens of the Pavilion, which are not extensive, have been returned to their 1826 look.
The Victoria Gardens are central gardens, which were originally a single large, flat, open space. The area was used for cricket matches, fairs and celebrations.
"Preston Park is one of Brighton's larger parks, and has a cafe, different kinds of sports facilities and an interesting clock tower. The Park lies next to Preston Manor, an Edwardian house open to the public. The Manor houses a fine collection of silver, paintings and furniture. Most students find that this park definitively is worth a visit!
